Triangle Backyard Cinema was started by a group of Raleigh filmmakers (Oak City Films) during the 2020 Pandemic as a way of sharing the magic of the movies with families and individuals while mantaining safe distances between guests.
A “pivot” business, the company quickly grew into a regular feature in backyards, driveways, and just about anywhere you can think of throughout the Triangle area.
We provide MASSIVE screens, immersive sound, and crystal clear projection for just about anything from movies to games to concerts to sporting events and beyond.

While possible to start earlier, we strongly recommend starting your movie at dusk to get the best experience. Dusk is about 20-30 minutes after sunset and you can easily look up the exact time by going to Google and typing in “Dusk on *your date*”

You can watch ANY movie you either own, rent, or want to stream!
YOU choose the movie (or TV show, or concert, or even game you want to play)!
We can play Blu-ray (recommended), DVD, or stream from any platform you subscribe to or have rented content from (Amazon, Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and others).
Most of our clients are streaming their movies.
We can also play content from any device with an HDMI output (which is almost anything these days).
We are also happy to give you movie recommendations for your event if you’re stuck on picking a title!

Our standard rental package includes everything you need but an electrical outlet and the movie you want to watch:
- Setup, adjustments, on-site tech and tear down GIANT inflatable screen (20ft or larger)
- Professional DLP High Definition projector
- Professional audio system (800watts+)
- Popcorn machine (optional)
Free rain date is included in every rental (subject to terms in rental agreement).
Locations more than 200ft from an available power outlet (15amps 3-prong standard outlet) should contact us as a generator or other power solution may be necessary.
You must supply your own movie/content which can be rented, owned, or streamed from any service. We only provide equipment and a tech to operate that equipment. You are responsible for any licensing that may be required for your situation (public showings for example).

Your tech will typically arrive early enough to have everything setup before your scheduled movie start time. You can have them setup much earlier for an additional fee.[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”How powerful is the sound system?” _builder_version=”4.5.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]
Our theatrical sound system is extremely powerful for an immersive and cinematic experience.
If sound levels are a potential concern, no worries! Your tech can minimize volume to an appropriate level and give advice on orienting the speakers to minimize sound traveling into neighboring homes. Typically it’s not an issue.
If you need REALLY quiet, we can also do a “silent” cinema experience where we will provide wireless headphones to everyone and transmit the audio to the headphones wirelessly (additional fee).
[/et_pb_accordion_item][et_pb_accordion_item title=”What is the rain plan?” _builder_version=”4.5.1″ _module_preset=”default” open=”off”]Excellent weather is a must for an outdoor movie so we include a free rain date with every rental so you need not worry about the “what-ifs.” We’ll work with you should weather become an issue to get you rescheduled to a date you can enjoy a perfect night under the stars.
If “the show must go on!” we also have 10ft screens which can be put up under shelter or indoors as an alternative for those who’d rather keep the same date. This option by nature isn’t zero contact but can usually be minimal t no contact. Your tech, wearing a mask, will setup alone and give you very simple instructions for any adjustments you might need to make after they leave.
